Arsenal 4-1 Crystal Palace: Bukayo Saka scores twice with Gabriel Martinelli and Granit Xhaka also on the scoresheet as the Gunners advance eight points at the top of the Premier League

Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points after overcoming Crystal Palace 4-1 at the Emirates on Sunday.

The visitors almost took a shock lead when Wilfried Zaha saw his effort cannon fall back from the post early on, but Arsenal began to step up a gear as the first half wore on and opened a decisive lead thanks to strikes from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

Granit Xhaka made it three shortly after half-time but Palace briefly threatened to come back as Jeffrey Schlupp pulled one back and then Zaha went close again. However, Saka put the game to bed with a compound finish from the reduction of Kieran Tierney to keep Arsenal’s title charge firmly on track.
