Partygoers were shocked when the loudspeakers were abruptly turned off at 10pm during a music festival – but the oblivious performers carried on.
Ministry of Sound were performing their classic tour at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter from 8-10pm on Saturday, with other acts starting at 2.30pm.
However, as the clock struck 10, the speakers suddenly went black despite the singers and a dozen-strong orchestra still playing the last song.

The acclaimed artists performed to a sold-out crowd at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter for a full day of music from 2.30pm to 10pm.
The roaring audience can be heard cheering on the band as the performers silently dance through a storm, hoping the music would return.
However, the performers, due to earplugs, were unaware that the packed crowd could not hear a word and spent the next three minutes finishing the track.
The singers in particular were so oblivious that their exuberance didn’t budge even though only the front rows of the audience could hear them.
Organizer TMRW Music confirmed the sound was automatically muted at 10 p.m. to comply with noise restrictions.
“Due to the location of the event, strict noise restrictions and the need to respect nearby residents, amplified music had to be turned off at 10 p.m. sharp,” he said.
“Unfortunately, at this point the orchestra still had about a minute left to play the final song, but that’s the nature of live music after a full day and night of performances.”

However, as the clock struck 10:00 a.m., the venue turned off the speakers, leaving the esteemed band to continue playing on stage – although the audience could not hear them.
The energetic concert featured bandleader Vanessa Perica leading the Ministry of Sound Orchestra in renditions of popular and club dance hits.
The famous group performed club favorites from Moby, Underworld, Robert Miles and many other house bands.
Despite the concert’s abrupt end, fans were clamoring for more and took to Facebook to thank the band for an incredible performance.
‘Ministry of Sound Classical, you were fabulous. An orchestra with electronic music is the best thing since sliced bread,” said one fan.
“We had a bad night,” another user wrote.
The group will perform on the Gold Coast on May 6 and in Melbourne and Adelaide later this year.
