Footage from the scene shows the 1,205kg squash falling from the trailer and into a roadside hedge just outside the farm it was being delivered to.

As the clogs formed, the pumpkin had to be retrieved from the road using a telescopic handler with straps tied around its base.

Relieved producer Ian Paton said he suffered no “serious harm” despite the incident.

Ian said: ‘We were moving the pumpkin to another car park and it was so heavy the trailer tipped over.

“There will have been a lot of photos taken, I’m sure. It’s not very often you see a pumpkin like that. I’m sure it’ll go viral now, but it’s good publicity.

“Fortunately, the pumpkin was not seriously damaged and no one was injured. He has a few bruises but nothing serious.

“It will now be on display at Sunnyfields Farm where anyone can come and take pictures with it.”

The twins’ pumpkin broke its own previous British record, weighing 63 pounds more than the pumpkin they grew in 2020 which weighed 2,593 pounds.

They have another huge pumpkin in their vegetable patch, which they hope will break the world record that has so far eluded them.

The twins’ other “monster” will be weighed at Sunnyfields Farm next weekend, and they hope he can be transported there safely without incident.
