A Briton is fighting for his life after being stabbed at Oktoberfest in Germany.

The tourist, 35, was seriously injured and needed emergency surgery after being stabbed in Munich as the famous festival started on September 17.

Two 18-year-old men were arrested by German police in the town today in connection with the stabbings.

Police believe the knife attack is linked to a stray drug deal, according to German news outlet br.de.

It is understood the British man was stabbed in the upper body after hundreds of euros were robbed, the report adds.

The two suspects reportedly fled after robbing the alleged victim.

It comes as the famous beer festival is back after a Covid-enforced hiatus.

It is estimated that up to six million people will travel to Munich for the event – which runs until October 3 – based on previous annual celebrations.
