Crazy moment man slaps BEAR to protect his girlfriend and dogs

The clip begins with the man walking his dogs in what appears to be his barn, when he suddenly spots the bear, which is not yet in the camera frame

Heartbreaking video has captured the moment a man bravely fended off a bear while walking his dogs with his girlfriend.

The clip shows the man slapping the beast, which appears to be a North American brown bear – best known on his property as he walks his two dogs.

Accompanying him is his girlfriend, who is seen behind the man, stunned, as the bear attacks in the heart-pounding footage.

When the bear suddenly bursts into frame, the unidentified man lays eggs on the invading beast, in an attempt to deter it from advancing on its family.

After a few feints, the man, leaving it in his hand, throws a leaping right hook at the advancing animal, stopping it in its tracks when the blow appears on the ground.

The look seemed to stun the bear – as well as the man’s stunned partner, who is seen in awe of the man’s heroism as the bear cowers and runs away.

The incident, meanwhile, which appeared to be happening in the man’s barn, is a reminder that proper fencing and safeguards are needed to protect property in known bear country.

Experts also advise citizens of bear-inhabited areas to always keep bear spray handy, in case of a sudden attack like the one seen in the horrifying – but oddly rewarding clip.

Bears invading landowners’ properties are not uncommon in some states – with brown bears in particular only native to Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming – as well as in Alaska off the mainland American.

Brown bears, also known as grizzlies, are considered the most dangerous bear species in the continental United States – only beaten by the deadly polar bear that roams the Arctic tundra.

Less dangerous is the significantly smaller black bear, which has shorter claws and is more omnivorous than its often more irritable cousin.

Black bears are also a bit more common, found in the aforementioned states, as well as others like Florida.

Earlier this year, the internet went into turmoil after a similar incident in the Sunshine State, where a man was attacked by a black bear on his back porch as he rushed to defend his dog.

The man, Walter Hickox, was bitten and scratched while battling the deadly predator at his home in Daytona Beach, Florida on Wednesday night.

Security footage installed on Hickox’s porch showed the man gallantly leaping forward to push the black bear off his property as he charged after his 12-year-old dachshund Pepper around 7.30pm.

Fortunately, he emerged from the attack unscathed – escaping the encounter with only a few cuts and bruises. Pepper, thanks to her father’s heroism, was just as well.

Although it is common for brown and black bears to invade outdoor properties, attacks are inherently rare.

On average, there are only about 40 brown bear attacks that occur each year worldwide.
