The ‘Brexit benefits’ will be used to ’empower communities and businesses’, Rishi Sunak promised last night.
Ahead of the third anniversary of Britain’s departure from the EU today, he vowed to focus once again on exploiting the flexibilities and freedoms offered by no longer having to follow Brussels rules.
The Prime Minister, who has backed the Leave campaign, said the UK had already made huge strides in exploiting the freedoms freed by Brexit, including rolling out the vaccine and new trade deals.

Talk tough: Rishi Sunak yesterday while visiting Durham
“We have charted a course as an independent nation with confidence,” he added.
“We are cutting red tape for businesses, leveling our free ports and designing our own fairer farming system to protect the countryside.
“This is just the start of our plans and I am determined to ensure that the benefits of Brexit continue to empower communities and businesses across the country.”
Mr Sunak has pledged to review more than 4,000 EU-derived laws this year and repeal those that are not suited to UK needs.
