26th January, Dhangadhi. After the resignation of the Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Rajendra Rawal, the head of the province, Devraj Joshi, is engaged in consultations for the appointment of a new Chief Minister.
He has prepared to proceed with the appointment of a new chief minister after receiving the letter that the chief minister has been relieved of his post.
According to Article 168 (2) of the Constitution, CPN-UML leader Rawal, who became the Chief Minister on December 27, was relieved of his post on Thursday after he did not receive a vote of confidence.
If the Chief Minister appointed under Article 168 (2) does not receive a vote of confidence within 30 days, there is a constitutional provision to appoint the leader of the largest party as the Chief Minister.
Accordingly, Kamal Shah, the leader of the parliamentary party of Nepali Congress, which has 19 seats in the provincial assembly, can be appointed as the chief minister.
Shailesh Dhugana, Acting Secretary of the Chief Minister’s Office, informed that Chief Minister Joshi has started consultation on the appointment of the next Chief Minister.
