According to The Telegraph, Lemons Lemons Lemons explores a young couple’s response to a dystopian world in which words are rationed by “laws of silence”.
In the play, rule-abiding lawyer Bernadette meets and moves in with rebellious musician Oliver as silence laws grow ever tougher.
Jodie Rourke, the show’s director, admitted to the publication that these kinds of laws wouldn’t happen in the real world.
She said: “Obviously those kinds of laws would be totally unenforceable. He therefore asks you to play the game and consider how relationships survive in extreme circumstances.
“It’s not a pandemic play, but it will resonate with people who have found the cracks in their relationships deepening during the lockdown.”
