In February 2017, Kris left his starring role as Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman in Death In Paradise after four years on the BBC programme.

He told Good Morning Britain at the time the decision was made in order to spend more time with his family following the birth of his daughter, leaving him “private” while filming in the Caribbean.

He was replaced by father comedian Ted Ardal O’Hanlan on the show, who played Detective Inspector Jack Mooney.

“The classic Death in Paradise way of ending the series is a little shaken up – not all the episodes are murders – so no more sheep rustling and stuff like that! It gives a touch of the English Riviera to the show that people know and love Who needs the Caribbean, he added.

According to IMDB, the synopsis for Beyond Paradise reads, “After leaving paradise and seeking a quieter life, Humphrey took a job as an ID in fiancée Martha’s hometown. But with the high crime rate, things may be noisier than expected.
