A Met Police officer tracked down a former partner after they ended their affair, a court has heard.

PC Jonathan Simon, 43, began a sexual relationship with the woman after he called the police over a dispute with a neighbour, Westminster Magistrates Court heard

Simon suggested she got involved in sex work and recommended a website when she told him about her financial struggles, it is claimed.

The prosecution alleges that Simon went to the woman’s home and the bank where she worked, with a colleague, after she told him she no longer wanted to see him.

The officers were in uniform at the time.

Simon spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address in Colchester, Essex, when he appeared in court wearing a black suit and purple tie.

He walked into court wearing a gray hoodie and a blue surgical mask.

Simon denies stalking, without fear of violence, between October 1 last year and July 1 this year.

Prosecutor Harry MacDonald said “considerable documents” had been served on the prosecution by the defense and they needed time to review them before a trial.

He said five witnesses will appear in court for the prosecution, while only the accused is likely to appear for the defence.

A trial date has been set for February 22-23 next year.

District Judge John Zani granted a variation to Simon’s bail conditions. He had been prohibited from contacting the complainant directly or indirectly and from entering certain postal codes.

Simon’s defense attorney, Rebecca Hadgett, requested a change to the order, allowing Simon to travel across regions to attend prearranged appointments with a lawyer or lawyers.

Simon joined the police as a special constable in 2010 before becoming a salaried officer in 2013.

He was suspended and a referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Simon, of Colchester, denies stalking without fear of violence.
