  • The surprising result of a poll indicates that the majority of those polled think Harry should leave
  • It comes against the backdrop of revelations he and Meghan have unleashed

Prince Harry is set to be invited to King Charles’ coronation in May, according to a new survey suggested today.

According to research, 60% of adults think the Duke of Sussex deserves to be allowed to attend the royal ceremony.

The thought is surprising, given Harry’s repeated onslaught of bombings and barbs against many of his relatives.

And only 30% of those polled think he shouldn’t be allowed to attend.

The survey – carried out by Ipsos for the Evening Standard – did not ask about Meghan.

But it showed a disparity of opinion in different age groups about Harry.

The poll revealed a stark age gap over whether he should be at the coronation.

Young respondents aged 18-34 were 75% in favor of inviting him

Three quarters of 18 to 34 year olds say the prince should be invited, with 15% against.

In the 35-54 age group, 65% support Harry to get an invitation, while 26% do not.

Finish the old! King Charles will give up the traditional royal dress

King Charles III is set to break with tradition when he attends his coronation in May by opting for his military uniform instead of the standard royal dress, it was claimed last night.

Her Majesty, 74, is reportedly not wearing silk stockings and breeches as they ‘look too dated’ and he wants the ceremony to reflect a ’21st century modern monarchy’.

Charles was said to be ‘happy’ to wear the same clothes as his grandfather and great-grandfather, but principal aides said ‘he shouldn’t wear them’.

The monarch is expected to arrive in the uniform of the Admiral of the Fleet, which

He wore at the official opening of Parliament last year.

He will also wear St Edward’s Crown, made in 1661 for the coronation of King Charles II.

It is made of solid gold and features over 400 precious stones, including six sapphires and 12 rubies. It weighs nearly 5 pounds (2.23 kg).

The older generation is more finely divided, with those over 55 having 47% saying he should be invited and 42% saying he shouldn’t.

The results of the survey of more than 1,001 people show that William is now by far the most popular royal, ahead of his father Charles, his wife Kate and then Harry.

Gideon Skinner, from Ipsos UK, said: “Although he’s not as popular as he once was, most Britons still think Harry should be invited to the coronation in May, which suggests a some hope of reconciliation.”

The king will be consecrated and crowned at Westminster Abbey in an ancient, stately ceremony in just over three months.

It will be part of a weekend of celebrations that includes a procession from the Palace, a balcony appearance and a concert at Windsor Castle.

The dazzling celebrations are said to reflect Charles’ desire to be ‘king of the people’.

It will also give Commonwealth and NHS worker representatives a chance to shine, before members of the public are encouraged to spend time volunteering on the country’s extra bank holiday.

The three-day extravaganza will give millions of Britons a day off, with tens of thousands expected to hit the streets of central London to watch the ceremony – the first of its kind in over 70 years.

It comes as royal insiders claimed last night that it was ‘unlikely’ Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle would appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, should they attend the event after the memoir fell out at the Duke’s bomb.
