Police have found a nine-year-old girl who was reported missing after leaving her parents.

Sophie Kane has been found ‘safe and found’ after officers in east Belfast appealed for her this afternoon.

Details surrounding where she was found were not immediately available.

Officers, in a post on the East Belfast Police Facebook page, thanked the public for their help in locating the little girl.

The PSNI had sounded the alarm after Sophie was reported missing in the Mersey Street area around 2.30pm this afternoon.

A spokesman, shortly after 5pm, said: ‘We have located nine-year-old Sophie Kane, who went missing in east Belfast.
