He continued, “I often used to sit on the wall near a nursing home. One day I was out there, just hanging out and really being a kid, when I heard a noise behind me.

“I looked around and saw this man reaching out to me. Over his shoulder I could see his car parked on the edge of the grass with the back door open.

“I jumped off the wall which was ten feet from the sidewalk and ran all the way to the house. It scared me.

Matt is currently entertaining the nation with his turn on Strictly Come Dancing, but found himself in the dreaded first dance on Sunday.

The singer and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova were forced to perform their Samba to Night Fever by the Bee Gees in a bid to impress the judges and stay in the competition.

Their routine was deemed enough to get them through another week, with Kaye Adams and her dance partner Kai Widdrington the first pair to be dropped after failing to wow with their Charleston to Music! Music! Music! by Dorothée Provine.

After the two couples danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts, with Craig Revel Horwood opting to save Matt and Nadiya.

Craig said, “Well, the couple for me, who I considered the best dancer of the night, and the couple I would like to save is Matt and Nadiya.”

Motsi Mabuse also opted to save Matt and Nadiya, adding, “Well it was so close, both couples made mistakes.” I feel like they were on the same level, but a couple was a bit better for me, and I’m saving Matt and Nadiya.

Confirming the result, Anton Du Beke said: “Well it wasn’t a vintage dance, and I know exactly how they feel and I’ve been in that position a few times myself and I think if you had the chance, you would like to go again, both of you.

“There were a lot of mistakes for both couples, I felt a couple also lost performance, and because of that, I would like to save Matt and Nadiya.”

With three votes against Nadiya and Matt, that meant they had won the majority vote and would leave the competition regardless, but head judge Shirley Ballas said she would have decided to save Kaye and Kai.

When asked if she agreed with the other judges, she replied: “I didn’t, I thought that because of a bit better quality I would have saved Kaye and Kai.”
