Their tour has not been without peril, with Nicky falling on stage earlier this month during their gig in Glasgow, leaving him with red bruises.
Speaking to his fans in an Instagram post on Monday, Mark urged fans not to worry as he informed them of his pneumonia diagnosis, saying that while it was “scary” to hear “everything is currently under control”.
He wrote: “First of all I would like to sincerely thank everyone for sending their love and getting well soon – it means so much.”
“I was really bummed to miss the weekend shows in Newcastle, but started feeling quite unwell on Friday and the doctors confirmed it was pneumonia.”

WHAT IS PNEUMONIA?
Pneumonia is a type of lung infection that affects the small air sacs in the lungs.
The condition causes these sacs to become inflamed and filled with fluid, making it harder to breathe.
Pneumonia is caused by bacteria or viruses, the most common being Streptococcus pneumoniae.
It affects between five and 11 in every 1,000 adults each year in the UK.
Symptoms include
- coughing up mucus
- Fever
- Chest pain
- Loss of appetite
- Fatigue
In severe cases, sufferers may cough up blood, vomit, or have a rapid heartbeat.
Treatment usually consists of antibiotics, which may need to be given intravenously in hospital in severe cases.

Mark continued: “I know it’s scary when you first hear the word ‘pneumonia’ but luckily I went to the doctor and the hospital very quickly and took the antibiotics as soon as possible.” Everything is now under control.
“I have been advised that the quickest way to recover is to rest and continue the antibiotics. I feel a little better every day. The nurses and doctors are taking incredible care of me so it should all be over in no time.
“It means missing more gigs though, which is horrible, but I’ll be back on stage as soon as I get it all figured out.”
“Until then, Nicky, Shane and Kian will continue to hold the Westlife flag high for all of us. Please shout even louder than usual for these three legends while I’m gone. Sending love to you all, I hope to see you back on the road very, very, soon! Mark xx.’

It came after Mark revealed on Friday that he would miss a concert after falling ill.
He explained: “I felt really feverish last night after the Manchester gig and then again this morning but much worse – I’ve been with the doctor and he says there’s no way in the world that I have to do the show tonight.
“So after talking to the guys we decided together that the show would go on, please for me have the time of your life!”
