A woman has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being mauled by a white American Bulldog.

She was rushed to hospital after being attacked outside a Tesco in Salisbury, Wiltshire, on Saturday January 14, 2023.

The dog’s male owner was arrested at the scene and taken into custody on suspicion of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm, according to Wiltshitre Police.

The woman’s injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening and she is being treated in hospital.

The dog was removed from the scene and transferred to proper care.

The owner remains in police custody following the attack outside his supermarket in Castle Street, Salisbury.

It comes just days after a dog walker was mauled to death by eight dogs during his walking shift in Surrey.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the 28-year-old woman from London died at the scene.

None of the dogs seized by police were classified as dangerous, with breeds including two dachshunds, a cockapoo, a collie and Shiva the Leonberger.

Police are appealing to all witnesses to provide information about Saturday’s incident.
